ScrapeHero Research began with a simple curiosity: how much can public data tell us about the world around us? The answer, so far, has been more than we expected. These pages are where we follow that curiosity, one question at a time, and write down what we find as clearly and carefully as we can. Think of them as a working notebook, one that keeps filling as new questions arrive, with earlier pages revisited as the data, and our understanding of it, grows.
Trade Area Studies began with a simple question: how many households live within a short drive of a chain's stores? From there came others: what those households earn, whether the chain trades in expensive places or cheap ones, what kinds of stores it runs, and how the picture shifts from state to state and market to market. Here, a store's trade area is simply everyone within a short drive of it.
