Surviving the Retail Apocalypse

Retail has been hard hit by the coronavirus pandemic as bankruptcies and store closures have accelerated. As retailers are slowly reopening, they might have to really look at their sales floor quite differently. Adopting other methods such as providing curbside pickup, locker pickup, or convert stores to distribution or internet sales fulfillment centers.

Budget retailers and variety stores like Dollar General, Dollar Tree and Five Below are bucking the trend and expanding rapidly, as these chains have strengthened the position of budget focused customers.

If retail brands have a very strong performance heading into the crisis and have an effective position with consumers for the coming period of economic uncertainty they may have a chance to thrive in the coming months and years.
